The commemoration is pursuant to the Administrative Code of 1987 as amended by Republic Act (RA) No. 9492 designating the last Monday of August as National Heroes Day. It gives the Filipino people an opportunity to recognize the sacrifices of all Filipino heroes, as well as honor the bravery they exemplified for the country.
